Web design for business.

It's your shop window, so let's dress it properly!

Your website is your shop window

Would you draw the curtains across your shop windows, or put a closed sign on your door if you were open? Of course not! But it's staggering how many business websites are actually doing this without realising it. Web design has changed a lot over the years and what might have looked hip in 1999 simply is not good enough in the 21st century. Scientific research and statistical evidence proves beyond doubt that you only have milliseconds to convince your visitor to stay on your web page. If you are reading this, we must have done something right! We tend to favour clean, crisp designs with plenty of 'white space' to add relief to the page. Remember the visitor - make his visit enjoyable! Don't give him eye-strain trying to read a dark blue font on a black background! Bear in mind colour-blind users too; how will they see your website? Does your call-to-action on your home page look like this?

Make it easy to use

Layout and design go hand-in-hand. Putting the right content in the right place is 50% of the battle. We recently watched trials using eye-tracking software to see where users' eyes fell on web pages. Do not assume that your visitors will read (or even see) everything on your page - they might have distractions, such as screaming children hanging off them! Make their experience easy with clear navigation, conspicuous graphics and creatives, calls to action, contact details. You have a second (or two if you're lucky) to grab their attention; otherwise hard-earned web visitors have moved on (to your competitor's website!)

Typically, graphic designers are not technically-minded; they're artists! Technical developers are often not artistic, and in most cases neither understand SEO! To produce a good-looking website, which works perfectly but is also found on all the major search engines, you need a professional team and someone to pull it all together.
